Editorial Product Review:

Amazon.com:
Rutger Hauer and Kim Cattrall star in this festival of stolen plots and embarrassing dialogue. Harley Stone (Hauer) is a tough cop. The kind of cop who lives by his own rules. The kind of cop who smokes, swears, and eats junk food. The kind of cop who slams people into walls to drive home a conversational point. If it sounds like you've seen this character before, you have. Split Second is not so much a movie as a cinematic crib sheet, cheerfully ripping off Jaws, Aliens, and Hauer's own Blade Runner, just to name a few. Which is not for a moment to suggest that the movie isn't fun to watch. Connoisseurs of horror-action also-rans will be in spasms of delight over everything from the ludicrous plot to the cookie-cutter dialogue ('They say he's the best.' 'He is.') to the incredibly misguided decision to have Stone eat chocolate truffles throughout the entire film. It is honestly sometimes hard to tell what is an intentional joke and what's just plain bad. Anyway, there's a serial killer rampaging through London in 2008 and Stone doesn't want a new partner, especially one with all that book learning and blah, blah, blah. Just turn your brain off and enjoy the magic. --Ali Davis

Buyer Reviews
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good Movie, but not for that money!!!
I own the VHS Copie of this Movie, and I must say it is a classic. I'm very disappointed to see that people are trying to sell this movie for as much as $158.00. I think that's a little outragious and no wonder why people go out and download these movies illegally. I'd probably do the same. Also when you want to put that $ sign down at a reasonable price, then you might get a sale. Untill then, I won't Pay that much for a dvd. Period!!

Customer Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - I can't believe they are charging this much for this movie.
I have loved Rutger Hauer since I saw Ladyhawke and will watch almost anything with him in it. We really like this movie but there is no way I would give over $15 for it. We have watched it over and over on VHS! I wanted to replace it with DVD. Although it is classic, it is not worth the prices being charged - especially when there are better Rutger movies out there going for a lot less.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Movie
I rented this movie from the store, and I like it alot at the time, Infact enough to go back and by the tape at that time. I still have the tape and I have wanted the dvd version for a while. This copy is from region 4 and therefore won't play in american dvd players, but If you know how you can get around that then this copy is fine. This european version was much cheaper then the american version. So If you know how to watch it and you like this movie this is a good alternate buy to the more expensive version.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - why is this still out of print!?!
Split Second is one of my most re-watched movies in my collection. Sadly, my VHS copy is in bad shape because of this. I would love to own a DVD copy but it is out of print and as great a movie as it is The used prices are rediculous. Anyone who pays over $20 for a used copy is a desperate fool. Anyone who sells it for that, well, lucky you.
